Beaches and booze - Hawaii, hot & humid!

So Hawaii was a proper holiday in the midst of the US trip - mainly because I was there with Vix & Ian and their friends on their actual summer holiday and also because it was 4th July week!

We stayed at Waikiki beach - tourist resort central, so we visited some other parts of the island to try and get away from it at times!

Waikiki beach

Banyan trees by the beach - pretty unusual

Hanauma bay reserve around the coast a short bus ride away - fabulous snorkelling!

We also headed to Koko head to try out the Kona brewing company's wares - a very good pulled pork burrito with a selection of their beers - yum! :)

4th July fireworks at Ala Moana beach:

4th July post firework boozing!!

Red white and blue was the theme of course!

Can't forget the president is from Hawaii...

We headed to the North shore to check out the more undeveloped beaches - most of them famous for the surfing, although the surf wasn't really up when we were there - including turtle bay and sunset beach

Sunset cocktails - gotta love a Mai Tai!!
