Hot air ballooning over Cappadocia

This was such an experience that it had to have its own post!

After an evening out with potentially too much participation in the unlimited red wine I got up a 4.30am to join a sunrise balloon ride.

The weather was perfect - clear and fairly still (enough thermals to get us going but no strong winds)

We started from a ridge outside town and kept away from the mass of balloons rising from the valley - everyday is a balloon festival here!

Our pilot was very skilled and managed to get us close to the rocks by dipping into the valleys and the landing was an airkiss straight onto the back of the trailer.

Of course it's obligatory to have a glass of sparkly stuff when you land!
